Ravyn Lenae Offer a rendition of her single “Sticky” at COLORS Studios

It’s seems dope to see an artist deliver a live version that rivals the recorded version of a song, but Ravyn Lenae did it and nailed it for her feature on COLORS Studios. Offering a rendition of her lead single “Sticky” produced by Steve Lacy, Ravyn absolutely killed this performance and really put her vocal abilities on full display for viewers who might have been unfamiliar.

Lenae began writing music in middle school, and since then has been on a poetic soul journey to being a current neo-soul icon. She independently debuted her Moon Shoes EP in 2015, which soon after landed her a record deal with Atlantic Records. Following suit, she joined SZA’s ‘Ctrl Tour’ and Noname’s ‘Telefone Tour’ as the opening act. Lenae’s obvious talent and infectious voice have been paving her path ever since.

COLORS Studios, is a German music platform known for their stripped down music performances. COLORS has become a “must stop” for artists on the rise. In addition to providing additional exposure on a global scale, it’s also a cool way for artists showcase their vocal skills in a unique setting.

The set is refreshingly simple, and while it takes an impressive level of performance chops to hold a viewers attention with nothing else but a microphone, Ravyn immediately locks you in the moment she starts singing. Watch Ravyn Lenae hits some unreal high notes below, and if you haven’t yet, be sure to peep her latest “Crush”

Ravyn looks quite at home, dressed in a low-cut tank top and high water denim, with black boots and a red beret to match. Surrounded by cherry red walls, reminiscent of both her Crush album cover and her signature mane. Her free-spirited, slinky moves pair well with the sinister organ chords and wicked bass licks of the Steve Lacy-produced track – captivating the viewer before she even sings a note. But make no mistake, when she does open her mouth, her crystalline vocals will stop you dead in your tracks. We’re loving this performance and can’t wait to see her perform it live in the near future.

Previously speaking about the song, Lenae says “Sticky” is about, “being stuck to someone and knowing you shouldn’t be…the person is not really nice to you; he’s actually a little mean. Even though you know that, you take him back all the time. He’s sticky.”

Chi-town songbird Ravyn Lenae is the latest artist to slay the mic, performing a live rendition of “Sticky” during a recent visit to the chromatic venue. Her performance of “Sticky” is as smooth as it is sultry; her entire vibe wraps around you like silk as she sings. Alongside this, there’s her incredible voice control and ability to be gut-full while also airy and playful — hence why red was the obvious choice for the jazzy-meets-electro feel that is “Sticky.”
